New technologies

New technologies are redefining financial services and they present significant opportunities to rural financial institutions. Some microfinance institutions — even ones that serve the poorest clients — already use automated teller machine (ATM) networks, smart card operations, credit scoring technology and palm pilots. This topic will try to bring together information on innovations and experiences in the use of new technologies.
