Agromisa is a Dutch non-profit organisation, whose aim is to lend support to the rural poor in developing countries to improve their situation. This is achieved by the provision of technical information on small-scale sustainable agriculture and rural development. The Knowledge Centre is divided into 3 sections:
The Publication Section which is responsible for the writing, translation and publication of the Agrodok Series. These are low-cost, practical manuals on agricultural topics, published in English and French, with some also in Spanish and Portuguese. These manuals are available free for people from African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries. There are 37 titles in the series on a wide range of practical topics. Two titles of particular relevance to farm finance are: "Farmer controlled economic initiatives" and "Marketing for small scale producers".
The Advisory Section which runs a Question-and-Answer Service about small-scale agriculture and related topics. This service works through a network of organisations with expertise in specific fields and is provided free-of-charge to individuals and intermediate organisations from developing countries.
The Training Section organises a training workshop on 'Participation in Development'. This training workshop is held in the Netherlands in June/July and can also be conducted in a 1-week form 'on-the-spot'. Other training modules can be provided on demand.
