Copyright Statement


1. Knowledge Objects Uploaded on to the Rural Finance Learning Centre Server

The person, institute or organization that contributes a knowledge object or headline object to the Rural Finance Learning Centre is deemed either to be the owner or copyright holder of the knowledge object, or to have the permission of the copyright holder to contribute the knowledge object to the Rural Finance Learning Centre. This does not in any way prevent a third party from submitting the details and location of any knowledge object accompanied by their own review, abstract or summary of the knowledge object. If an Editor has any doubt about the ownership or legality of a knowledge object submitted to them, they should seek confirmation from the contributor. If they are still in doubt, they should refer the matter to the Chief Editor / RFLC Coordinator who reserves the right to refuse and/or remove any knowledge object from the Rural Finance Learning Centre that has been improperly submitted, or for which there is any doubt about the ownership and/or legality. The ownership of individual Rural Finance Learning Centre knowledge objects remains with the registered members who have contributed them. It is their responsibility to ensure that the information they contribute is accurate, and to secure and retain any necessary permissions to use copyrighted materials and to link to websites.

2. Websites linked to the Rural Finance Learning Centre

Registered members of the Rural Finance Learning Centre may suggest links to existing public websites, however care must be taken to ensure that all websites linked to are official sites and have not been put up by an unauthorised third party. When entering information about websites, the contributor should not copy verbatim any titles and descriptions used by other web directories or search engines without proper citation. They should review each website and construct their own title, short description and review, abstract or summary as required. It is the duty of a topic editor to ensure that these conditions have been adhered to prior to activating the link to the website from the Rural Finance Learning Centre. The Chief Editor / RFLC Coordinator reserves the right to refuse and/or remove links from the Rural Finance Learning Centre to any websites for which there is any doubt about their ownership and/or legality.

3. Editor's contributions to the Rural Finance Learning Centre

Topic Editors retain rights to their own material that they submit to the Rural Finance Learning Centre, but the RFLC Chief Editor reserves the right to use this material in any way that will be to the overall benefit of the Rural Finance Learning Centre. When topic editors submit information to the Rural Finance Learning Centre, they grant the Learning Centre a non-exclusive right to use or modify material they submit as necessary for the benefit of the Learning Centre.

4. Copyright Notice

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has copyright on the Rural Finance Learning Centre (Community Directory Server). Any attempt to copy the whole Directory or any section of the Directory without the permission of FAO will be regarded as an infringement of copyright. Copying and downloading of any individual knowledge object will be subject to any copyright conditions laid down within that knowledge object or attached to that knowledge object. Any use or inclusion of Rural Finance Learning Centre knowledge objects in other documents or media must include an appropriate copyright and permissions notice. Use of any material copied from the Rural Finance Learning Centre is restricted to informational, non-commercial or personal use only and no modifications to the information are permitted. Copies for personal use or class instruction are allowed subject to any National laws concerning permissions and fair compensation. Permission to reproduce, license, or re-disseminate copyrighted material for any other use must be requested directly to the copyright holder. It is the responsibility of the submitter of information to secure and retain permissions to link to websites and to use copyrighted materials. Use for any other purpose is expressly prohibited.

5. Disclaimer

Whilst every effort is made to ensure the accuracy and validity of all information contained in the Rural Finance Learning Centre, FAO disclaims any responsibility for the accuracy of the information contained in the individual knowledge objects, and the topical information texts. Submitters are responsible for the accuracy of the information, including quotations and citations against the original sources, and including specific page, paragraph, table, etc. numbers of the citation as applicable. Rural Finance Learning Centre knowledge objects are subject to review and changes periodically, but could include technical inaccuracies or typographical errors. Linked websites are not under the control of FAO or the Rural Finance Learning Centre and FAO is not responsible for the content of any linked website or any link contained in a linked website. The designations employed and the presentation of material in the Rural Finance Learning Centre do not imply the expression of any opinion whatsoever on the part of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations concerning the legal or development status of any country, territory, city or area or of its authorities, or concerning the delimitation of its frontiers or boundaries.
