| Description | This manual is one of a series published by PACT that were developed in Nepal by the Women's Empowerment Programme. This programme was based on developing the capacity of women's groups through literacy training to manage their own village banks or savings groups and improve their income-generating activities. The programme was implemented through local NGOs and did not involve any provision of external money for credit. The manuals used during the programme have now been translated into English and published by PACT Publications so that the method can be adopted by others. All the manuals include literacy exercises and use stories or dialogues to explain each topic covered. They show how pictures and questions can be used to stimulate discussions. Selling Made Simple starts by suggesting the women be encouraged to reflect on who they are and what they might do to change their lives. Then the idea of an economic group is explored, in this case meaning that their savings should be used to improve their income levels through enterprise and not just be used for consumption. The next chapters go on to cover: - Finding a good business idea
- Successful selling
- Planning for profit
- Managing your working capital
- Finding a selling advantage
- Building up your business
- Reaching higher value markets
- Taking care of your business
The manual has a wealth of ideas for trainers and group facilitators to use and is highly recommended. |
