From the Editors

This month we would like to inform you that we intend to open soon a new topic in the RFLC library, i.e. that of Structured Finance.

Structured Finance is normally defined as a service offered by financial institutions for companies with very unique financing needs. These needs usually don't match conventional financial products such as a loan. Structured finance generally also involves highly complex financial transactions.

We are curious to understand and know more about how structured finance could apply also to agri-business and agro-enterprise development. The topic being relatively new to us, we would very much welcome contributions from our members. This said, if you have or are aware of studies, publications or other material on the topic of structured finance with special references to the development of food- and related agri-businesses, please forward the information to us at the following electronic mail address and we shall consider it for insertion in the library: rflc@fao.org

We look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,
The RFLC Editorial Team

The Rural Finance Learning Centre is a part of the CABFIN Partnership Project which aims to promote and facilitate capacity building in rural finance. The concerns of rural finance are to ensure that people living in rural areas have access to financial services such as deposit and money transfer facilities, insurance and loan products. Effective use of these services can help to improve livelihoods and reduce rural poverty. The following CABFIN Partners have provided financial support to the RFLC:
