The Rural Finance Learning Center aims to assist all public and private organizations in developing countries working to promote access to a broad range of financial services adapted to the needs of rural households and businesses. The Centre acts as a global knowledge management hub that disseminates policy guides and training material developed by leading institutions around the world in order to help develop organizational capacity and respond to the challenge of increasing financial inclusion in rural areas. The Centre is also a platform where its users can share the latest news and events related to rural finance to a vast network of professionals around the world.
The recently produced FAOVideo with highlights from the Agricultural Investment Training and Investors Forum that was organized by FAO’s Rural Infrastructure and Agro-Industries Division (AGS) and held on 18 March 2014. Over 60 participants, including investment funds and technical assistance facility managers, in addition to FAO, IFAD, GIZ and UNIDO staff, joined the event. During discussions participants addressed the following questions: How can development agencies encourage inclusive investment? Is investment in agriculture attractive and what challenges do private investor face? How can public organizations partner with other stakeholder to address agricultural investment challenges?
